The Sheiling Ringwood is looking to fill a variety of roles in both their school and college. They are also offering a unique volunteering opportunity for both national and international candidates.

Applications are invited for volunteers to join our organisation on a 12-month volunteer programme starting in August 2016. The Sheiling provides residential care and education in a beautiful woodland setting for children and young people (aged from 5 to 24) who have severe and often complex special education needs (SEN)

You will work alongside colleagues in our care and education teams by providing support to our students as they develop their educational and social skills. We provide a ‘waking day’ curriculum where all members of staff contribute to helping our students develop their social, educational and emotional abilities as they progress into maturity. You’ll work with our students, supporting them in achieving individual targets and to pursue leisure interests. In return you will have a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, achieve great job satisfaction and valuable experience for your own future career aspirations.

You’ll join one of 6 small teams of care workers and work within a weekly shift system. Full and comprehensive training will be provided throughout your placement.

While this position is unpaid, you will be provided with food, accommodation and payment of agreed expenses.

We particularly welcome overseas applicants who are eligible to work with us due to EU nationality or under the UK Tier 5 (Charity Worker) Visa permissions.

Regional radio station Wave 105 has generously granted £3,400 to The Sheiling Ringwood.

These funds were granted as part of the Cash for Kids grant giving charity, backed by regional radio station Wave 105, which is committed to supporting local children under the age of 18, who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged.

Funds are raised in conjunction with Cash for Kids' local charity partner, FJB Hotels, who through the fundraising efforts of their staff and generous donations from guests, support the scheme.

The money will enable the Sheiling School to equip a new sensory room for students, helping ensure the needs of all children are met. Sensory play is an essential part of our students' learning and therapy. These funds will help achieve this and provide students with further wonderful sensory experiences.

Local Property Management Company, Anglotown, have generously donated £1,615 to Sheiling School in Ringwood. The money will be used to purchase much needed gardening equipment for the children.

Managing Director, Adrian Lickiss, explained “Sheiling School is very dear to my heart as a close relation attends and benefits enormously from the wide range of activities that the school has to offer. Gardening is particularly therapeutic for the children and as a keen gardener myself I was pleased to be able to donate money for the purchase of equipment and tools for the children to use in the wonderful garden and grounds that the school has to offer.”

Principal of The Sheiling Ringwood, Corine van Barneveld commented “We are extremely grateful to Adrian Lickiss and Anglotown for this generous donation. We aim to provide a rich, enabling and therapeutic learning environment for all our students and gardening forms an integral role in our school life. The money will be used to purchase new wheelbarrows, gardening tools, and seeds and bulbs. Our students will be able to see the benefits of growing food to eat and will also gain great satisfaction from being able to see and smell the flowers they grow and from tending the ground throughout the different seasons.”
