Additionally, if a person leaves at least 10% of their estate to charity, the IHT charge for parts of the estate not left to charities (or your spouse) are reduced from 40% to 36% so, not only are you supporting a worthwhile cause, but you could also reduce the IHT bill for the rest of your beneficiaries too.
